A ‘Gossip Girl’ Fan Just Exposed the Show’s Funniest Fashion Moment on TikTok
Gossip Girl may have gone off the air in 2012, but thanks to Netflix, its iconic costume designs are still having an impact on fans, new and old.
In late August, TikTok user IvyZed shared a video of what can only be described as one of Serena van der Woodsen’s most…unique fashion choices throughout the show’s tenure.
During Gossip Girl‘s season-two finale, Serena, Blair, Chuck, Dan, and Nate are supposed to be celebrating their graduation from Constance Billard and St. Jude’s. All seems well until GG strikes, sending a text to both schools, dishing out even more drama. However, it’s not the ensuing chaos that’s making waves on TikTok. Just take a close look at Serena’s hair accessory.
In the quick clip, IvyZed is heard laughing uncontrollably at the fact that rather than wear her cap like a normal high schooler, Serena instead chose to simply tie her tassel to her hair and forgo the cap altogether.
“How did I just see this now,” IvyZed wrote alongside her video. Truly, I don’t know how I missed it, either, but I’m actually not hating the little bow up top. Maybe that’s just Blake Lively’s power, though.
This, of course, isn’t the first time eagle-eyed fans have spotted something wonky going on with Serena’s outfits. In late April, SKYCHURPe Hanamaikai, another TikTok mega fan of the show, shared her own hysterical video, exposing a fashion mistake she noticed while rewatching the show.
In season six, episode four, “Portrait of a Lady Alexander,” Serena is seen sporting a formfitting peach dress as she sits down for a meal with Dan. Then, when she stands, Hanamaikai notices the fashion faux pas to end all faux pas.
“Okay, I’m watching Gossip Girl, and here is Serena standing up. She looks right,” she says over the video. “Oh, there she is again. She looks good.”
“But then,” Hanamaika continues, “she’s wearing sweatpants!” Yep, there’s the video proof. In the final frame of the scene, Lively can clearly be seen wearing sweatpants over her peach dress.
Simply too good. TikTok, these are the moments of levity we need in the world right now. Please continue to obsessively watch this show (and others) and point out the plot holes and weird trends so the entire world can laugh together.
