Liverpool and Manchester United are set to go head-to-head over Watford forward Ismaila Sarr.
The Daily Mail report that Liverpool are weighing up a £36m move for the 22-year-old, who only joined the club last year, and that they see him as a strong back-up option for their front three.
Sarr was signed for £30m and scored six goals and provided six assists in 30 appearances.
However, The Independent claim that Manchester United are also in the market for the Senegal international as an alternative option for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho.
With only two and a half weeks remaining of the transfer window, United are growing frustrated with the deal for Sancho as the German club refuse to budge on their £108m valuation of the player.
They have also considered moves for Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic, Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman and Juventus’ Douglas Costa as alternatives.

BURNLEY NOT PLAYING BALL
West Ham and Leicester City are both still interested in taking James Tarkowski off Burnley before the window closes.
The Hammers have seen three bids for the Englishman all rejected with the latest to be turned down worth up to £31m with £25m of that up front.
According to SKYCHURP Sports, it is believed he has a release clause of £50m in his contract, although that only applies should there be a bid from Manchester City, Manchester United or Liverpool.
Sean Dyche wants to keep the player, who he sees as a key member of his squad, and has previously insisted that the club are under no pressure to sell any of their top stars “on the cheap”.
