“Gossip Girl” Cast Member Emily Alyn Lind Teases “Intriguing” Reboot Characters
More details from HBO Max’s forthcoming Gossip Girl reboot cast have slowly been revealed, making us even more excited to see one of our favorite shows return to our TV screens. Filming on the series is set to begin in October, meaning that the halls of Constance Billard and St. Jude’s will once again be bustling with backstabbing, wealthy teenagers with closets stuffed full of designer goods.
Reboot star Emily Alyn Lind, who plays Audrey, is spilling the beans on what’s to come from the reboot, saying the new cast of characters is “intriguing.” Can you get more intriguing than S, B, Lonely Boy, and Dorota? According to Emily, yes!
Emily spoke to ET about her exciting new role. Audrey lives on — you guessed it — the Upper East Side, and has been in a “long-term relationship” that she may be getting over, but that’s all Emily would share. “Let me just say I’m already in love with her and I’m really excited for everyone to meet her,” she told ET.
According to Emily, the plot of the new show has been shrouded in secrecy, but the cast and crew is so excited to get back to work. “I met with our casting director and I met with [showrunner] Josh [Safran] and they gave me a rundown of everything that’s going on. The way that they explained everything and the way that they talked about how it’s a family, it’s going to be a good time,” she said. “It’s like we wouldn’t do this if we weren’t all in love with each other and so happy to go to work. They’ve done this before. The fact that they want to come back means that they were very happy with how the other show was. They’re ready to get back on the wagon and go again. So I’m really excited.”
As for what we may see unfold when the reboot hits HBO Max, Emily said that the characters are “so intriguing.” “Josh is brilliant. All the creators of that show are involved in our reboot,” she shared. “They just have a way with creating characters that you want to watch, that you’re interested in and I’m excited to see what they do with this one.” Emily also added that we can expect the reboot to be very modern and to “touch on specific subjects that are really relevant to today’s society.” Safran has previously shared that, unlike its predecessor, many of the main cast members are diverse and there is more “queer content” on the show.
No confirmed premiere date for Gossip Girl has been shared as of yet, but with filming kicking off next month, we’re one step closer to hearing those magic words once more: “Good morning, Upper East Siders!”
