Los Feliz Apartment Fire Wakes Neighborhood

LOS FELIZ, CA — A fire that broke out in a four-story apartment building in Los Feliz was extinguished by firefighters in just over 30 minutes Friday morning.

Crews responded to the 4600 block of Los Feliz Boulevard near Vermont Avenue shortly after 5 a.m. and worked to keep the flames from spreading.

According to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department, the fire burned in the attic of the 78 unit 64,160 square-foot building.

A total of 80 firefighters extinguished the blaze, and a full knockdown was declared shortly before 6 a.m., he said.

Los Feliz Boulevard is closed between Vermont Avenue and Rodney Drive until further notice, Humphrey said.

As of this report, the Red Cross has not been called for any displaced residents. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
