Coronavirus live as infection rates in UK climb and tier 3 talks continue in Sheffield and Leeds

There have been more than 2,000 new cases of coronavirus recorded in Yorkshire, the latest publicly available data reveals.

Over the course of the most recent 24-hour period, another 2,053 people across Yorkshire tested positive.

There were also a further 10 deaths from Covid-19, in York, Bradford, Barnsley, Mid Yorkshire, Doncaster and Huddersfield. 

Sheffield, which is facing the possibility of being put into Tier 3 in the coming days, remains Yorkshire’s Covid hotspot, after the most recent figures showed its infection rate stands at 445.6 per 100,000 people.

Leeds is the second-worst area in Yorkshire, with an infection rate of 395.8.
